Sittings: Artist Statement

In October 2005, I asked one of my sons to sit for me on a promontory overlooking a vibrant autumn panorama. Out of that pose emerged "Autumn Son. " Since then, I have found other sitters in other settings to paint and have included them in the ongoing series which I call "Sittings."
It's the mood of the moment that I'm attempting to convey as I render the figure in the landscape. As with the "Bearing Fruit" series, the variations seem endless.
