Winter Solstice: Artist Statement

Every year for the past two decades or so, our family has made it a practice to mark the longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice, with a gathering around a bonfire for a brief ritual prior to a large potluck meal. And every year to announce it, I created a painting which was transformed, through the magic of digital imaging and ink jet printing, into a card. The last several Winter Solstice paintings are included as examples.
